All Northumberland Local Authority maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and are supported by the local authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress and achieve their potential in their school.
Our report is published following the guidelines from the current code of practice (2014) as well making sure that it complies with Children and Families Act (2014) and schedule 1 of the Special Education Needs and Disability Regulations (2014).
All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) being met in any educational setting. Here at Emily Davison School , we have a graduated approach to SEND, a continuum of support for pupils in order to enable them to make progress and to achieve their potential in order to start their future adult life.
Our school supports KS3 and KS4 students in Northumberland who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, which in turn can lead to behavioural issues, and all of our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Many of our pupils have other additional needs that can affect their learning. Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Miss Taylor.
